Our Purpose

ONMICA, the Ontario Mortgage Investment Companies Association, is a non-profit, volunteer-run association comprising Ontario alternative mortgage lenders, each structured as a Mortgage Investment Entity (MIE) distributed through a registered entity recognized by the FSRA.

Our mission is to:

  • Facilitate the exchange of information and ideas among members.

  • Present a unified voice to regulators and other stakeholders to safeguard the specific interests of our industry.

  • Establish and maintain industry standards for ethics and professionalism.

  • Serve as an advocacy group for the MIE community, primarily engaging with securities regulators such as the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), to enhance their comprehension of MIE operations and ensure fair, transparent, and industry-specific regulation of capital raising.

  • Elevate the profile and comprehension of MIEs among investors and participants in the capital raising industry.

  • Support our members with advice, problem-solving, professional referrals, and investor connections.

Membership Criteria
  • The Member Firm’s primary source of income is derived from being or managing a “Mortgage Investment Entity” (e.g. Mortgage Investment Corporation, Mortgage Trust, Mortgage Limited Partnership, etc.) whose securities are distributed through a registered entity recognized by the OSC.
  • The Member Firm conducts business in an ethical and professional manner that reflects positively on the industry.
  • The Member Firm is approved by ONMICA’s Membership Committee.
Membership Fee

The annual membership fee is $3000. Memberships expire annually on December 31.
